Since 1951, South Africans have loved Volkswagen. In fact, you’ll probably find one on every street, road, highway and byway in the country. We were asked to find an innovative way to celebrate the impact that Volkswagen has had on South African streets, and use it to kickstart Volkswagen South Africa’s Facebook Page. Volkswagen Street Quest was a Facebook challenge to find as many Volkswagens as possible on South African streets using Google Street View in a custom-designed gaming interface. The game was played over four weeks and the player with the most Pins each week qualified for the Grand Final â a live playoff in which finalists competed for prizes worth R50 000

Mobile telecommunications company MTN sponsors Design Indaba, one of the world’s premier design conferences. As part of MTN’s sponsorship, we harnessed their communications technology and expertise to connect aspiring designers to the inspiration of the conference in immersive real time. The Connector Bot was born, allowing design students from Tshwane in Gauteng to pilot themselves around Design Indaba in Cape Town over a thousand kilometres away. With the Connector Bot as their proxy, they could sit in on talks, interview heavy-weight speakers and interact with other delegates. With any luck, it’s a dose of inspiration that will see one or two of the students go on to become design powerhouses in years to come.

You sponsor the biggest music awards show in South Africa in a very real and exciting way.The i20 is a car with the best of everything, and The Jupiter Drawing Room’s creative solution was to promote it in conjunction with the MK awards (a predominantly Afrikaans music channel) was to let music fans create the band with the best of everything: A Superband.Fans choose their 5-member band from 16 finalists, and the musicians who receive the most votes in the run-up to the big night will get together two weeks before the show, create an original song, perform live on the night of the show, and hand over the keys to a brand new i20 Glide to one lucky voter.

RAV4 – OUTDOOR WEBSITE

The new RAV4 is built for the outdoor adventurers – the guys who spend their weekends hiking and cycling, and not behind their computer screens surfing the net. That’s why we decided to take the new RAV4 website to them, on a 1.8km cycling track, so that they could explore the new RAV4 in their outdoor environment.

With the help of some very innovative technology, we literally built a real-life RAV4 website in the great outdoors, so that not only looked like the online version, but behaved like it too. Cyclists could trade in their mouse for a mountain bike, and navigate the RAV4 Outdoor Website.

When Toyota’s Etios launched in SA, it promised to make people smile. The Tweets for Sweets installation, created by HelloComputer & ThingKing, did just that by rewarding virtual smile tweets with real-life candy.
